Director's Message
On behalf of our faculty and staff, I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Center for Clean Energy Engineering (C2E2) at the University of Connecticut. C2E2 operates as a multidisciplinary research, education and outreach center focusing on sustainable energy engineering.
Formerly known as the Connecticut Global Fuel Cell Center, C2E2 serves as a nexus for activities involving fundamental and applied research in clean and efficient energy systems (from energy conversion to fuels to power management) as well as training of 21st century scientists and engineers. With its expanded mission, C2E2 is in a leadership position to address and meet the emerging "Energy and Climate" challenges at the national and global levels.
Our efforts are geared toward catalyzing the transformation of science-to-systems for a global "Sustainable Energy Economy" through academic research and industrial development of cost-effective solutions to current and emerging technologies.
Advanced energy conversion technologies, fuels and fuel processing, energy storage, power management and smart grid and conservation of natural resources with a focus on water are all part of our larger research and educational portfolio. Read more about our research here.
The C2E2 mission is strengthened and expanded by the Eminent Faculty Initiative in Sustainable Energy, a unique effort funded jointly by the State of Connecticut and leading energy companies, which has enabled us to expand our faculty resources into smart grid technologies, photovoltaic solar energy, chemical computational modeling, advanced combustion technologies and the like.
To ensure the relevancy, highest quality, and successful integration of our technological developments into commercial products, we partner with United Technologies Corp., Siemens, General Electric, FuelCell Energy, Northeast Utilities and other industrial partners, and state and federal agencies such as the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Army, and the Office of Naval Research.
We appreciate your interest in the Center for Clean Energy Engineering and invite you to explore our website.
Cordially,
Prabhakar Singh, Ph.D.
