Fuel Cell Engineering Short Course, December 6th and 7th 2002

A short course entitled Fuel Cell Technology was presented the weekend of December 6th and 7th by Dr. Frano Barbir. Dr. Barbir is the Vice President of Technology and Chief Scientist for Proton Energy Systems in Wallingford, CT. The course covered six hours of lecture and open discussion on proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The course included an introduction to fuel cells, a discussion of key components, the main processes, material properties, design options and overall systems perspective. In addition, Dr. Barbir presented topics or areas for future research and development to make the fuel cell system lighter, smaller, more efficient, have an improved durability and less expensive. The course was well attended and included over 40 participants from the University.
