Connecticut Global Fuel Cell Center

The Center offers conferences, short courses, workshops and seminars periodically on campus or in conjunction with other events. In addition, custom programs may be developed upon request of specific employers or organizations. The goal with these educational options is to provide additional learning opportunities to increase the awareness and knowledge of key technological issues in the fuel cell arena. The following list contains recent and planned outreach activities involving the fuel cell center.

Fuel Cell Summit 2005, October 23 -25, 2005
Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT

CGFCC is pleased to be an endorsing partner for this combined fuel cell event. The Summit has been developed by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the CT Clean Energy Fund and is a solutions-based event designed to accelerate fuel cell advancement. CGFCC will the event on Sunday, October 23rd with a workshop entitled Fundamentals Workshop: How Fuel Cells Work. This 3 hour program will be chaired by Dr. Frano Barbir. In addition, Dr. Ken Reifsnider will be chairing a session on Tuesday the 25th entitled Technology Exchange & Transfer to the Fuel Cell Community: Advancements in Fuel Cell Technologies at Universities, National Labs, and Government Institutions Panel Discussion. A Workshop on Systems-Based Fuel Cell Design and Manufacturing
May 2nd and 3rd 2005, University of Connecticut

This second workshop was held as a follow on to one that occurred during 2004. Specifically, this workshop was organized to address the challenges, identified in the first workshop, which face the fuel cell industry. These challenges are:

Cost and durability which are seen as primary barriers driven by the uncertainty of performance.

Fuels are not in the main stream of engineering and engineering education.

First International Conference on Fuel Cell Development and Deployment
March 7 - 10, 2004 Storrs, Connecticut

The Connecticut Global Fuel Cell Center sponsored a successful First International Conference on Fuel Cell Development and Deployment this past March. The conference had over 350 national and international leaders from industry, academia and government braches in attendance. Over 100 talks were presented including 15 plenary and keynote presentations.
